The 3D Technology in Medicine Center (3D Lab, VinUni) has officially become an ISO-certified startup center in the application of advanced 3D technology.

June 17, 2024

On June 12, VinUni’s 3D Technology in Medicine Center (3D Lab) was officially certified for meeting international standards in quality management (ISO 9001:2015) and medical device quality management (ISO 13485:2016) by the international certification and inspection organization ISOCERT. Specifically, the certified categories include the production of customized artificial joints (upper and lower limbs, spine, skull, maxillofacial), dental implants, cranial patches, esophageal/cardiovascular stents, personalized fixation plates, 3D anatomical models, and customized surgical guides.

Currently, very few units in Vietnam have achieved ISO certification in the field of medical device production using 3D technology, emphasizing the significance and pioneering nature of 3D Lab. The ISO certification marks a crucial advancement, laying the groundwork for the future of 3D technology in medical device manufacturing.

With this recognition, 3D Lab not only strengthens the trust in the quality and reputation of its 3D products but also sets the foundation for the application of 3D technology in medical teaching and research. The center’s 3D anatomical models will aid in teaching rare medical cases, something standard models cannot provide. Additionally, fully personalized implant products, designed according to patient-specific parameters, will enhance treatment outcomes.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung, Deputy Director of ISOCERT, shared on behalf of the organization: “To achieve this certification, the 3D Technology Center underwent an independent and objective certification assessment that met ISO requirements. The unit has trained its personnel to understand what a quality management system entails, standardized experience into applicable procedures, and conducted thorough internal evaluations. We believe the center will continue to grow, becoming a leading technical partner for customers in its field.”

At the event, Assoc. Prof. Le Cu Linh, Acting Vice President of the VinUni Health Sciences Institute, affirmed the strategic vision of 3D Lab: “We aspire to become a leading startup center for the application of 3D technology in healthcare and to foster extensive partnerships with both national and international experts.”

This event reflects the development strategy of the Health Sciences Institute and VinUni as a whole in becoming a pioneering force to create a positive impact on healthcare in Vietnam, elevating it regionally and internationally, and serving humanity.
