VinUniversity to partner with National Geriatric Hospital to foster academic cooperation
VinUniversity has made an important step towards enhancing academic partnership in the healthcare sector by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Geriatric Hospital of Vietnam. The MOU signing ceremony was held on September 29, 2023, creating a platform for cooperation on various initiatives.
The ceremony was attended by senior representatives from the National Geriatric Hospital including Associate Professor Nguyen Trung Anh – Director and Dr. Phan Viet Sinh – Deputy Director. From VinUniversity were Professor David Bangsberg – Interim Provost cum Dean of College of Health Sciences, Dr. Le Cu Linh – Executive Vice Dean of College of Health Sciences and Dr. Le Van Phuoc – Vice Dean of Medical Education.
VinUniversity’s Provost and Dean of College of Health Sciences, Prof. David Bangsberg, expressed his excitement about this collaboration and the prospects it holds. He believes that, with Vietnam’s rapidly aging population, elderly care is becoming more important than ever.
As Vietnam’s leading hospital in healthcare services for the elderly, the National Geriatric Hospital always pays a lot of attention to technical training and capacity building. In terms of international cooperation, the National Geriatric Hospital has collaborated with several reputable universities in many countries around the world including the U.S., France and Japan. According to Director Nguyen Trung Anh, with VinUniversity’s world-class curriculum, facilities and faculty, this partnership with the National Geriatric Hospital will successfully promote joint academic and training activities, thus contributing to both sides’ development as well as strengthening Vietnam’s elderly care system.
The MOU identifies five main areas of cooperation as follows:
- The two sides coordinate to develop and deploy training activities for undergraduate and postgraduate students and cooperate to exchange visiting lecturers for appropriate training programs.
- The two sides coordinate to build, design and organize the implementation of domestic and foreign projects and research related to fields of mutual interest.
- The two sides coordinate to organize the design and implementation of training courses to strengthen the capacity of lecturers and clinical instructors; management capacity, scientific research methods and other topics for staff of the two units and other facilities in the health sector.
- The two sides coordinate to seek cooperation opportunities in the field of Science and Technology research; share research results and information, co-organize scientific seminars and discussions related to fields of mutual interest.
- Cooperate in other areas of mutual interest.
This MOU signing ceremony is the first step of a long-term collaboration between both institutions and is the basis for the implementation of further cooperative initiatives in the future.
