Career Pathway
Throughout their training at VinUni, all Internal Medicine residents will obtain the Vietnam medical license as mandated by the Vietnam Ministry of Health.
Currently, after graduation, residents in our program can pursue their career in:
- Fellowship training: as our program is accredited by ACGME-I, it gives more chances for our residents apply to for Fellowship training to become specialists in other countries that have the same system. Our residents can also pursue Specialist Level 2 in Vietnam.
- Clinical works: Graduating resident doctors can independently practice in both outpatient and inpatient settings related to internal medicine. They will be proficient in caring for adult patients, whether they are in good health or facing illness.
- Chief Resident: This full-time position involves overseeing resident allocation to optimize patient care provision. Chief residents are tasked with supervising residents’ educational experiences, including participation in rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, and teaching sessions. They receive training to transition into faculty roles and can pave their path to becoming full-time medical educators at VinUniversity after fulfilling their commitment to the Vinmec International Healthcare system.
- Hospital Medicine Doctor: Internal Medicine residents have the option to work as hospital medicine doctors in wards. This pathway aims to cultivate internists who excel in caring for hospitalized patients and emerge as leaders of change within the healthcare system.
- Research Track: Graduating resident doctors have the opportunity to pursue a career as full-time researchers, equipped with advanced research skills acquired during their residency training.
- Other Options: Graduating resident doctors may explore roles such as medical staff in non-government organizations, hospital management experts, or positions in healthcare leadership, among other possibilities.
