Our Curriculum

The Pediatric Residency Program has a 4-year curriculum, which includes several clinical rotations to cover all the medical experiences that are necessary to train a knowledgeable and skilled pediatrician.

The main teaching hospitals are the Vinmec Times City International Hospital and the Vietnamese National Children Hospital.

Additional teaching sites are the Ocean Park Clinic (for longitudinal clinical experiences), as well as Centre for Supporting Community Development Initiatives (SCDI) and the Spring Hospice, where the residents can make experience with community pediatrics and child’s advocacy.

The rotations at the hospital teaching sites include several core experiences that will be repeated at least twice, during both the junior and senior periods of the Program. Overall, these core rotations will equip the residents with all the appropriate theoretical knowledge and practical skills to manage both common and complicated pediatric patients, whatever the specific subspecialty and/or work setting are after the graduation.

During the non-core rotations, residents will explore all the areas of pediatric care to round out their education. The goal will be to give them exposure to subspecialty pediatric areas. The subspecialty rotations will be primarily inpatient, but may include outpatient, consultation, and procedural experience. Residents may also choose to return to subspecialty and core rotations for their elective experiences, which could include also rotation away in the country or abroad.

In addition to bedside teaching, the learning experiences and activities also include several didactic sessions, including Faculty lectures, case conferences, journal club, radiology conferences, simulation sessions, and other didactic activities.
