Seminar on Access to Postpartum Depression Services in Vietnam
On July 20, 2024, at VinUniversity, Center for Creative Initiatives in Health and Population (CCIHP), in collaboration with Bachelor of Nursing Program, VinUniversity successfully organized a Seminar titled “Access to Postpartum Depression Services in Vietnam: Challenges and Solutions”.
The seminar aimed to raise awareness about postpartum depression (PPD) and discuss the challenges and solutions to improve support services for postpartum women in Vietnam. The event attracted the participation of numerous experts, policymakers, and healthcare professionals.
The first session provided an overview of PPD and introduced several models for connecting PPD services. Speakers such as Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoa Huyen – Faculty of Bachelor of Nursing Program, VinUniversity, Dr. Hoang Tu Anh – Director of CCIHP and Dr. Nguyen Thu Giang – Founder, Vice President of Light Institute for Community Health Development (LIGHT) shared valuable and insightful information.
The second session focused on identifying specific actions and solutions to improve postpartum depression services, hosted by Mr. Nguyen Van Chi – Deputy Director of the Department of Maternal and Child Health, Ministry of Health, Prof.Cao Tien Duc – Dean of Buon Ma Thuot Medical University, Dr. Duong Minh Nam – Deputy Director of Hiep Hoa District Health Center, Dr. Nguyen Thu Giang – Founder, Vice President of LIGHT, Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Thai Lan – Deputy Dean of the Department of Sociology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoa Huyen – Faculty of Bachelor of Nursing Program, VinUniversity and Dr. Hoang Tu Anh – Director of CCIHP.
The seminar provided many useful insights and made specific recommendations to enhance the quality of services and support for women with postpartum depression. The event marked an important step in raising awareness and seeking practical solutions to improve postpartum depression support services in Vietnam.
