VinUniversity Cooperates with Vinmec and GE Healthcare Vietnam to Implement Continuing Medical Training Courses on Healthcare Imaging and Anesthesia

“This pioneering model of cooperation between three leading parties in the fields of medical technology, clinical services, and education, each with its own distinct strengths, will contribute to improving the quality of Vietnam’s medical human resources training, especially in the field of healthcare imaging and anesthesia.” – shared Dr. Nguyen Ngo Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology – Training, Ministry of Health, at the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony between VinUni, Vinmec and GE Healthcare Vietnam that took place on October 17, 2022.

This cooperation aims to build the largest Advanced Imaging Education Center (AIEC) in Vietnam and the region. It will also provide high-quality continuing medical education/ continuing professional development programs (CME/CPD), in line with international standards, bringing unique values. Additionally, with the companion of GE Healthcare – a leading US healthcare solutions company – and Vinmec International General Hospital system, VinUniversity aims to apply the latest teaching methods and medical training technology to improve the quality of medical training.

Regarding Healthcare Imaging Training, three parties will coordinate to design and organize 11 advanced imaging training courses for doctors and technicians, employing the global imaging database and modern training software. With this, learners can learn and practice real-world imaging data under the guidance of leading international and domestic experts. For this component, VinUniversity will invest in facilities at the VinUniversity Medical Simulation Center, acquire a training software system, organize training, and issue continuing medical training certificates for learners. These advanced imaging courses are expected to train 200-300 healthcare professionals domestically and internationally each year. The first training course is expected to be held in early 2023.

Regarding Anesthesia Training, three parties will work together to organize simulation training programs on anesthesia for physicians and nurses based on real-life scenarios.

Mr. Jeyul Chang, GM, Strategic Accounts & Solutions AKA Region, GE Healthcare (Southeast Asia, Korea and Australia) also expressed his excitement at GE Healthcare’s partnership with an educational institution and a hospital system to establish training activities – ​​one of GE’s key development orientations. He expected this cooperation to promote the application of science – technology and optimize infrastructure for the purpose of training future medical human resources.
