On March 27, 2023, VinUniversity was officially approved by the Ministry of Health to train Orthopaedics Surgery Residency Program in line with international standards.

The goal of the program is to train a team of Orthopaedics surgeons with good ethics and qualities, along with the professional capacity and skills to work independently. Additionally, upon graduation, GME residents would have achieved 6 ACGME-I competency standards: Patient Care Competency, Medical Knowledge, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, Communication Skills, Professionalism, and Systems-based Practice.

Students have the opportunity to study specialized modules at affiliated institutions abroad (expected in the 4th and 5th years of the program). They can also participate in intensive programs and early advanced training right after graduating as a GME doctor. Not only will they be granted a GME degree, but students will also receive important certificates throughout their studies: BLS, ACLS, Certificate of Arthroscopy, and Certificate of Joint Replacement. Above all, residents at VinUniversity are offered job opportunities at Vinmec Health System.

Students will participate in the 5-year program and directly study and work under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Dung and his associates at Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Center, Vinmec Times City. They will gain immediate access to the latest diagnostic and treatment facilities, as well as participate in applied treatment technology projects at the VinUni Biomedical 3D Technology Center and the Vinmec Motion Lab.

Furthermore, students will have access to diverse learning materials at VinUni’s medical library, including specialized books, access to prestigious electronic journals around the world, software and electronic data for medical use, free medical academic service, etc.

Besides core modules in Orthopedics, students will learn three additional technology modules: 3D Technology in Medicine, Motion analysis technology, and Data science (artificial intelligence, deep learning, etc.). Students will be equipped with the understanding and mindset of scientists and medical intellectuals, in order to resolve challenges Vietnam and the world are facing such as bone and soft tissue cancer, sports medicine, and degenerative joint disease in the elderly.
