VinUniversity signs MOU with University of Montpellier, University Hospital of Montpellier, and Vinmec to boost global reputation and foster academic cooperation
VinUniversity has made an important step towards enhancing its global reputation and expanding its international collaborations by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Montpellier, University Hospital of Montpellier, and Vinmec International General Hospital Joint Stock Company. The MOU signing ceremony was held on May 4, 2023, creating a platform for joint cooperation on various academic and research initiatives.
The ceremony was graced by Mr. Nicolas Warnery, the French Ambassador to Vietnam, and other representatives from the partnering institutions. The participants exchanged ideas on ways to strengthen academic and scientific cooperation, improve research and innovation, and promote cross-cultural learning opportunities for students and faculty.
The MOU paves the way for undergraduate and postgraduate student exchange programs, clinical and research visiting programs for residents and physicians, faculty mobility, joint educational and scientific cooperation. Students and faculty will benefit from exposure to diverse cultures, education systems, and research environments, which will broaden their perspectives and provide valuable opportunities for personal and professional growth.
VinUniversity’s Provost, Prof. Rohit Verma, expressed his excitement about the collaboration and the prospects it holds. He stated that “This MOU marks an important milestone in VinUniversity’s global mission to advance knowledge, promote innovation, and create impactful solutions for societal challenges. We are committed to nurturing global citizens who can navigate complex challenges and contribute to the betterment of society.”
The University of Montpellier’s Professor Xavier Capdevila, echoed Prof. Verma’s sentiments, stating that “The collaboration provides a unique opportunity for sharing of ideas, research and technology transfer, and collaboration on research and innovation. This MOU will foster academic and scientific cooperation between France and Vietnam.”
The MOU with Vinmec International General Hospital Joint Stock Company will also offer opportunities for joint research and clinical trials, providing a platform for collaboration in the development of innovative healthcare solutions.
To start the official partnership, University of Montpellier, VinUniversity and Vinmec International General Hospital Joint Stock Company has collaborated to successfully organize a postgraduate University diploma – International Master Course of Regional Anesthesia and Analgesia 2023 with 60 participants from Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Taiwan and Cambodia at Vinmec Times City International Hospital.
