UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA – PENN NURSING, USA

OFFICIAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN VINUNIVERSITY AND THE UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA ON THE INTEGRATED BACHELOR’S – MASTER’S PROGRAM IN NURSING

After the Letter of Intent on the exploration of a coordinated undergraduate-to-advanced-nursing-degree pathway signed in Jan 2022, an agreement between the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing (Penn Nursing) and VinUniversity (VinUni) representing the College of Health Sciences (CHS) has been signed officially. The program will officially begin in the academic year 2023 – 2024, starting offer for 3rd year Nursing students.

VinUniversity is the first university in Vietnam and one of the first in the region to successfully sign an agreement on integrated Bachelor’s-Master’s Degree programs with UPenn. The enrollment of VinUniversity students in integrated degree programs and their admission into highly competitive and prestigious Master’s programs at UPenn affirms the partner institution’s recognition of VinUniversity’s educational quality.

Students participating in the APN Program will earn a Bachelor of Nursing degree at VinUni followed by a one-year adult inpatient clinical nursing residency program at a Vinmec International Hospital and up to two years at Penn Nursing to complete the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care MSN Program (hereinafter referred to as MSN Program).

During the one-year clinical nursing residency program at Vinmec hospitals, in addition to obtaining a professional license in Vietnam and taking the US professional license exam, students will be eligible to enroll in MSN courses offered online by Penn Nursing, which means students can shorten the Master’s study time. Upon completing the integrated program, students will graduate with Bachelor of Nursing degree from VinUni and MSN degree from UPenn Nursing.

This agreement will open up opportunities for VinUniversity students to access one of the world’s best nursing education. Once they have acquired a Master’s degree from UPenn, VinUniversity students can choose to pursue PhD or DNP studies in the US, becoming experts in clinical practice, research, and education in the near future“, shared Dr. Nguyen Hoang Long, Director of VinUniversity’s Bachelor of Nursing program.

The University of Pennsylvania is VinUni’s strategic partner, an Ivy League institution, and home to the oldest Medical School and university hospital in the USA. Currently, the University of Pennsylvania ranks 13th in the world according to the QS World University Rankings 2022 and continues to maintain its number 1 position for Nursing programs globally. It is also the 2nd highest-ranking university in terms of billionaire alumni. This program is a great opportunity for VinUni students to experience studying, researching, and working at the world’s best university for Nursing.

YONSEI UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF NURSING, South Korea
The College of Health Sciences, VinUniversity recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the College of Nursing, Yonsei University, opening up opportunities for joint research and academic exchange between students and lecturers of the two colleges. The two institutions agreed to collaborate bilaterally on the exchange of students, faculty, and administrative staff, joint research and teaching activities, and exchange of field trips, study tours, and academic materials.

Yonsei University is part of SKY – a group made up of Korea’s 3 most prestigious universities. According to the QS World University Rankings (2021), Yonsei is ranked 79th worldwide. The College of Nursing, Yonsei University is Korea’s oldest nursing school with more than 100 years of history. With the motto “Lead the health world globally through exceptional and innovative education and research”, the College of Nursing, Yonsei University places an emphasis on teaching students’ management thinking and leadership skills. These also lie at the core of VinUni’s educational philosophy. In addition to specialized knowledge and skills, nursing students are continuously trained in management thinking and innovative leadership skills to prepare for managerial roles in nursing in particular, and healthcare in general.

Discussing this collaboration with Yonsei University College of Nursing, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Long, Director of the Nursing Program, VinUniversity, shared those cultural similarities help facilitate activities between the two colleges, such as student exchange, lecturer exchange, and collaborative research on multicultural healthcare services. The recently-signed MOU is an important foundation for VinUni College of Health Sciences and Yonsei University College of Nursing to implement specific activities in the near future.

This is a wonderful opportunity for VinUni students to experience studying, researching, and working in South Korea – a country with a developed nursing industry. This cooperation agreement also opens up opportunities to participate in joint research projects and contribute to the development of healthcare. At the moment, the VinUni – Yonsei research team is working on a research project about the influence of media literacy on adolescents’ tobacco use, with target groups in both South Korea and Vietnam.

UNIVERSITY OF MINESOTA – SCHOOL OF NURSING, USA

VINUNIVERSITY OFFICIALLY SIGNED A COOPERATION AGREEMENT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA SCHOOL OF NURSING OPENING A WIDE RANGE OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENT EXCHANGE, COOPERATIVE RESEARCH AND INTEGRATED DEGREE PRORAMS FOR VINUNIVERSITY NURSING STUDENTS

Recently, the College of Health Sciences, VinUniversity and the University of Minnesota School of Nursing (USA) have signed a cooperation agreement on academic cooperation and exchange. Sharing a common vision and mission in training talented nurses and contributing to improving the quality of the future healthcare field, the two parties mutually agreed to cooperate on the implementation of the following programs:

Student and faculty member exchange programs

  • Joint research activities
  • Organization of joint conferences and symposia
  • Joint and dual-degree programs for undergraduate and graduate students

The cooperation has opened up opportunities for students of VinUniversity’s Bachelor of Nursing program to gain international experience and develop their academic pathways as well as future career prospects. This cooperative agreement once again affirms the world-class educational quality of the Bachelor of Nursing program at VinUniversity.

The University of Minnesota is one of the leading public research universities in the United States, with a network of more than 500,000 talented professors, faculty, and students in a variety of disciplines, including Health – Medicine, Economics, Engineering, Biology, Law,… Established in 1909, the Nursing program at the University of Minnesota is the first Nursing program at a US university. The university aims to contribute to health care through the three main focuses of innovative research, academic excellence, and collaborative activities. The University of Minnesota is ranked 15th among the top universities for Bachelor of Nursing programs by U.S. News & World Report 2022.

At the same time, this is also the first university in the US to grant a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree in Nursing Anesthesia, Nursing Informatics, and Health Innovation and Leadership, which is ranked 7th internationally by US News and World Report.

THE HONG KONG POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY – SCHOOL OF NURSING, Hong Kong

Our nursing program has signed a MOU in collaboration with School of Nursing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University since January 2022. Key collaboration activities include:

  • Exchange of students and faculty
  • Execution of joint research projects
  • Provision of lecturers and seminars
  • Exchanges of academic materials.

Up to date, the nursing program and HongKong PolyU have worked on the agreement of a student exchange program, short summer experience program and service learning activities in aged care in which the students from HongKong PolyU can come to VinUni and aged care facilities in Vietnam to conduct their service-learning course.

UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY SYDNEY – FACULTY OF HEALTH, Australia

In 2022, many collaborative activities between the Nursing Program, College of Health Science VinUni and Faculty of Health, UTS deployed including research collaboration and student exchange. Prof. Debra Anderson, Dean of Faculty of Health, UTS visited VinUni in October 2022 as a Co-Principle Investigator and Specialist Consultant for two research projects on women’s well-being: “Women’s Wellness after Giving Birth Program” and “Cancer Wellness Program”.

DOMESTIC COLLABORATION

VinUni-CHS is working closely with leading hospitals in Vietnam in training nursing students, developing clinical teachers and conducting nursing research.
