Our Program

The internal medicine residency program at VinUniversity is the first in Vietnam to adopt international standards, meeting the criteria set by ACGME-i while adhering to Vietnamese government regulations. Our program is jointly developed with the University of Pennsylvania. Visiting faculty from UPenn and other institutions participate in discussions, and case-based teaching sessions, and evaluate residents’ clinical skills. Upon completion of training at VinUni College of Health Science (CHS), resident doctors are equipped to deliver high-quality healthcare services both nationally and internationally. Central to residency training at CHS is the principle of graded and progressive responsibility. Supervision in graduate medical education aims to ensure safe and effective patient care, foster the development of residents’ skills, knowledge, and attitudes for independent practice, and lay the groundwork for ongoing professional growth.

Our training program emphasizes the values, objectives, and principles of healthcare services in Vietnam, international learning competencies, and a dedication to addressing community, local, national, and global health needs. Through affiliations with esteemed teaching hospitals such as Vinmec, 108 Military Central Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital, and Hanoi Heart Hospital, we provide an optimal environment for residents to excel across six domains: patient care, medical knowledge, professionalism, practice-based learning and improvement, system-based practice, and interpersonal skills and communication.

Our residents have numerous chances to participate in inbound and outbound exchanges, observe training within clinical environments, present at national or international conferences, and build connections with international peers and faculty members.

The program leadership maintains close contact with each resident to devise a longitudinal growth plan tailored to individual career aspirations. We also gather input from residents and other participants in order to perform an annual evaluation of the program, which is then reviewed by a dedicated committee to enhance its quality.. With a diverse patient population, committed faculty, and robust research resources, our program offers residents a comprehensive educational experience.
