International Medical Education Programme 2026 – An Academic Journey with Doctor Resident Tuong Vi

The International Medical Education Programme (IntMedEdu) is jointly organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and Hainan International Medical Center in Hainan, China. The inaugural program brought together 62 participants from 13 countries, creating a dynamic platform for international academic exchange and collaboration.

Throughout the program, participants received training in cutting-edge fields including artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine, bioinformatics, and real-world research. Representing Vietnam were two resident physicians, including Dr. Tuong Vi, a fourth-year Internal Medicine resident at VinUniversity. Together with physicians, healthcare professionals, and experts in biomedical sciences and medical education, she joined the program with the shared goal of advancing and enhancing medical education at Vinmec.

Dr. Tuong Vi shared:

“Through the specialized lectures and visits to hospitals and medical education systems in Shanghai and Hainan, the program provided me with a more comprehensive and practical understanding of modern healthcare systems. I was particularly impressed by the scale, organization, and systematic approach adopted by medical schools and hospitals, from medical education to clinical practice.

One of the most valuable aspects of the program was the opportunity to learn how artificial intelligence (AI) can be effectively applied in medical education, research, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based medicine. I also gained insight into how AI is integrated into hospital operations to support diagnostic processes, clinical decision-making, and optimize patient care.

Beyond the academic experience, interacting with peers from around the world through cultural exchange and extracurricular activities allowed me to build meaningful international connections while gaining valuable personal and professional insights. These experiences have not only broadened my perspective but have also inspired me to explore ways of adapting innovative educational models and clinical practices to the medical landscape in Vietnam in the future.”
