On September 10, the College of Health Sciences at Vin University formally held a graduation ceremony for the second cohort of resident doctors (Class of 2025), which included 16 doctors specializing in internal medicine and pediatrics. More than 300 leaders, delegates, and guests from the Vinmec Healthcare System, partner hospitals, the College of Health Sciences’ sixth cohort of students, and their families attended the ceremony to witness this special occasion for the 16 graduating residents.

In the opening speech at the graduation ceremony, Professor Michelle Hermiston, Dean of the College of Health Sciences at VinUniversity, expressed:

“You have faced long and often sleepless nights, demanding clinical rotations, challenging research projects, and the weight of responsibility that comes with caring for others at often their most difficult moments in life. Through these years of training, you have emerged stronger, wiser, and more compassionate. Your graduation today is not just a personal achievement; it is a milestone for the College of Health Sciences, for VinUniversity, and for Vietnam’s growing role in global medical education, research, and healthcare.
You are pioneers. You represent a new standard of excellence in graduates of residency programs built upon international benchmarks, tailored to the needs of Vietnam, and guided by the values of integrity, compassion, and professionalism”.

Building on their dedication to learning, innovation, and perseverance, the second cohort of residents achieved several impressive milestones:
- All of the graduating residents met the independent practice competency standards set by ACGME-I.
- All the residents had the opportunity to complete international clinical rotations and internships at renowned medical institutions, including the University of Pennsylvania in the United States, the Medical University of Vienna, and the Medical University of Graz in Austria.
- The residents contributed to 42 research projects aimed at advancing science and improving patient care. They presented their findings at 81 national and international conferences, earning numerous awards and representing VinUniveristy with excellence and pride.

In a touching moment at the graduation ceremony, Dr. Tran Thi Thuc Trang, a pediatrics resident, spoke on behalf of the 16 graduating residents from the second cohort, sharing:

“VinUniversity has given us invaluable opportunities. We were privileged to engage in an international–standard residency, enriched by evidence-based discussions, and to broaden our horizons beyond borders. But those flights meant far more than just travel; they symbolized new horizons for Vietnamese residents, wings to fly further, and the bold vision of our program. I truly believe this is only the beginning, with many more doors opening for future cohorts”.

The 16 graduating residents from the second cohort have become ambassadors for VinUniversity’s vision, demonstrating that VinUniversity’s residency program is successfully training highly skilled, compassionate doctors who are ready to lead the future of medicine in Vietnam
