Our Chief Residents

Bui Pham Thai Hoa, MD., MSc.

Chief Resident (AY 2025–2026) & Clinical Lecturer

Dr. Bui Pham Thai Hoa received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Tan Tao University – School of Medicine in 2021. Her graduation thesis focused on the percentage of ischemic stroke etiology in hospitalized patients at Thong Nhat Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City.

She then pursued an Internal Medicine Residency at VinUniversity – College of Health Sciences from 2022 to 2025, with clinical practice experience at Vinmec Times City Hospital, 108 Military Central Hospital, and Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi. Her residency thesis investigated the distribution of the VExUS grading system and its association and predictive value for adverse events in acute heart failure patients, including a protocol comparison in a Vietnamese cohort.

She participated in international academic programs such as the 2018 clerkship program in Indiana, USA, where she completed internal medicine rotations at St. Mary’s Medical Center and Methodist Hospital and attended workshops at Indiana University School of Medicine – Northwest. She later joined the OMI Vietnam – Weill Cornell Seminars in Cardiology (2024) and Radiology (2025), and an observership program at the University of Pennsylvania in 2025, focusing on endocrinology consultation and acute care for the elderly.

Tran Ngo Gia Huy, MD., MSc.

Chief Resident (AY 2025–2026) & Clinical Lecturer

Dr. Tran Ngo Gia Huy received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City (2015–2021) and completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Specialist Level I training at VinUniversity (2021–2025) as Chief Resident. He currently serves as Clinical Lecturer of the Internal Medicine Residency Program, College of Health Sciences, effective October 2025.

Throughout his medical training, Dr. Gia Huy gained extensive clinical experience through rotations at major hospitals, including Cho Ray Hospital, Gia Dinh Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital, and 108 Military Central Hospital. He also completed a two-week clinical observership at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. His research interests lie in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and hepatology. Dr. Gia Huy contributed to a study titled “In-hospital Mortality and Associated Factors in Elderly Patients with Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding due to Peptic Ulcer Disease” (Vietnam Medical Journal, 2025).

His residency thesis was titled “Evaluation of the MAP(ASH) Scoring System for Predicting Outcomes in Variceal Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding at 108 Military Central Hospital.” He is also a co-author of a case report presented at the 27th Congress of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR 2023).

Nguyen Hoang Kim Han, MD., MSc.

Dr. Nguyen Hoang Kim Han graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City in 2020 and completed the Internal Medicine Residency Program at VinUniversity in 2024 as Chief Resident of the inaugural class. During her training, she was honored with the President’s List distinction for outstanding academic performance and received scholarships to attend the Residency School training program at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), as well as the internship and seminar program at the Open Medical Institute (OMI), Austria.

In research, Dr. Kim Han has published 5 international papers, including 2 in Q1-ranked journals, and has presented at specialized conferences in allergy and clinical immunology. She also serves on the Executive Committee of the Allergy Leadership Forum (JAAFCA) under APAAACI, contributing to the development of a regional network of young specialists across the Asia-Pacific.

Following the completion of her residency, Dr. Kim Han continues her role as Clinical Lecturer for both undergraduate medical education (UME) and graduate medical education (GME) programs. With a commitment to ACGME-I clinical training standards, she remains actively engaged in both clinical practice and the cultivation of a rigorous educational environment — inspiring and supporting the next generation of physicians.

Tran Vo Thuy Nhi, MD., MSc.

Former Chief Resident (AY 2024–2025)

Dr. Tran Vo Thuy Nhi graduated from the VinUniversity Internal Medicine Residency Program in 2024, following the completion of her Doctor of Medicine degree from Tan Tao University in 2020. She is recognized as a dedicated and highly passionate physician, committed to the mission of providing exceptional patient care. As a member of the inaugural cohort of residents, Dr. Nhi completed a clerkship at Indiana University and participated as a delegate in specialized gastroenterology conferences at the University of Pennsylvania. Currently, Dr. Nhi holds the position of Chief Resident of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. In addition to her clinical proficiency, Dr. Nhi has a strong dedication to education, having developed high-quality educational materials that have been highly commended by both students and colleagues.
