CORONARY COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY ANGIOGRAPHY TECHNIQUE

Computed tomography (CT) coronary angiography is a common clinical indication. Imaging techniques and image processing are important in diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. The number of technicians in the imaging specialty is increasing, while no CME program is specifically for them. Besides the content of theoretical and practical knowledge that has been equipped in the university training program, technicians need to update and improve their knowledge and especially their skills to meet practical situations.
The VinUniversity CME course “Coronary computed tomography angiography technique” is designed under the regulations of the Ministry of Health on guidelines for continuous medical education for medical staff. Through this training course, students could take CT coronary angiography and signal processing to have the best image quality for diagnosis and treatment. Learners also have the opportunity to practice basic techniques used in CT coronary angiography and experience the equipment used in diagnostic imaging.

1. Who should take this course?

The course is designed for Diagnostic imaging and Nuclear Medicine technicians, nurses working in a CT scan environment, and clinicians (cardiologists) who want to process CT images of coronary arteries to coordinate in diagnostic work. People who concern/want to improve their capacity in coronary CT angiography.

2. Course duration

16 hours (4-hour theoretical period and 12-hour practical period)

3. Course Content:

– Anatomy of coronary arteries.
– Technical factors of CT scan affecting coronary imaging
– Prepare the patient, the contrast medium pump, and the CT scanner
– How to take a cardiac CT scan in sync with the electrocardiogram
– Evaluate the initial results before the patient leaving
– Processing coronary images
– Measurements of coronary damage.

4. The language used in the course: Vietnamese and/or English, depending on the learners’ needs

5. The number of trainees per course: maximum 30 participants.

6. Certification: CME/CPD certificates equivalent to 16 hours
